Syllabus

This course is suitable for

  • Students with a minor in Media Informatics (Bachelor major)

This course is a special offer for the minor subject students of media informatics in the first semester. It is recognised as equivalent to the course "Introduction to Computer Science: Programming and Software Development" provided for in the examination regulations. Students are free to choose which of the two variants they attend. Only students with a minor (majoring in Art and Multimedia or Pedagogy) and students of the Industrial Design programme at TUM are admitted to the course described here. This is therefore a small personally known group. Students of the programme "Media, Management and digital Technologies" at TUM can also attend this course to make up for imposed ECTS points in this area.

The course will start with the programming language "Processing", which is specially designed for designers, and will only later move on to the Java language in order to teach basic object-oriented programming skills. This is essential for the further course of study, especially for the Art and Multimedia programme. During the lecture, the game "Pong" is developed piece by piece as a practical project together with the lecturers and offers room for creative ideas and own solutions. The exercises are particularly practice-oriented, take place directly on the computer and provide support in mastering the exercises.
