Course I: Development of a language trainer app for SDI students

In cooperation with SDI Munich, participants will develop a mobile application that helps SDI students to learn foreign languages. For example, the app could offer games with which users can improve their vocabulary, grammar, and conversation skills. Accepted students will work on the following tasks: conducting user research, creating an overall concept, designing and implementing the app, and a content management system that allows teachers at SDI to add new content.

This PMG has two groups: Accepted students will choose between one of two groups. Each group will work on a slightly different topic within the area described above. You do not have to choose a group at the time of application.

Preliminary Schedule

Please note that this is a preliminary schedule and there will be further regular meetings besides the ones listed below!

• 23.11.2016: Kick-Off
• 05.12.2016: Concept Presentation
• 25.01.2016: Intermediate Presentation
• 22.02.2016: Final Presentation

Interested media informatics students can apply via Uniworx until 13.11.2016. Applications have to include the following information:

• Bachelor or Master
• Describe relevant expertise, for example from previous courses, jobs and other projects, if any, that demonstrate your skills in one or more of the following areas: general programming, mobile web development, Android development, games development, design, user experience. Please also self-rate your knowledge in each of these areas on a scale from 1 (no prior knowledge) to 5 (expert knowledge).
• Briefly describe your motivation for participation in this course.

Participants will be selected based on this information, and not based on time of application. Nevertheless, if interested, please apply as early as possible!
