Research Interests/Profile

Kai Holländer is a PhD candidate at LMU Munich. His PhD program began in April 2018. He does research and teaching at the LMU Media Informatics lab supervised by Prof. Dr. Andreas Butz and holds a B.Sc. in Media Informatics as well as a M.Sc. in Human-Computer Interaction. In addition, he has a background in electrical engineering.
Since his early childhood he shares a great fascination for mobility and especially for automated vehicles. His research focuses on the interaction between vulnerable road users (VRUs) and automated vehicles. In this context, he investigates how safe, inclusive and comfortable interactions between VRUs (e.g. pedestrians) and automated vehicles can be realized. During various employments in IT related projects (e.g. development of an online self-assessment tool at LMU Munich, a research internship at QUT Brisbane, full-stack web development at Videri Concept, software quality assurance at QUISMA and more) he was able to gain profound knowledge on how to implement digital projects. Additionally, he organized multiple HCI courses, conference workshops and supervises bachelors and masters theses.
