Task
âSharentingâ describes the practice of parents sharing information, photos, or videos of their children online. While often motivated by pride, social connection, or documentation of family life, it can raise significant privacy and ethical concerns for children.
This thesis aims to explore the motivations, perceptions, and decision-making processes behind sharenting behavior. Through qualitative methods such as semi-structured interviews, the project will investigate:
- Why parents engage in sharenting and what benefits they perceive
- How parents assess privacy risks for their children
- Where they draw the line between acceptable and risky sharing
- Whether awareness of long-term consequences influences behavior
The findings will contribute to the design of privacy-aware technologies and guidelines that support informed decision-making.
