• 02.11.2020: Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Veranstaltung am 5. November um 10 Uhr s.t. beginnt!
• 15.10.2020: Die Veranstaltung findet rein online statt. Die meisten Inhalte werden per Aufzeichnung zur Verfügung gestellt; einzelne Termine werden als interaktive Sitzungen in Zoom stattfinden, insbesondere der erste Termin der Vorlesung.
• 06.08.2020: Diese Veranstaltung kann nur von Hauptfach Master Studenten eingebracht werden (z.B. Medieninformatik, Informatik , MMT, ...). Nebenfach Studenten (z.B. Kunst und Multimedia) müssen die Veranstaltung Multimedia im Netz belegen. Online Multimedia ist nicht als “Vertiefendes Thema ” im Bachelor geeignet.

  For the tutorials for each session an intorductury video recording will be provided via Moodle each Thursday, starting on the 12th of November

  In a Q&A live session via Zoom you can come up with your questions, and we will discuss solutions for the little “Breakout tasks” that are part of the tutorial.

  All Tutorials will take place via Zoom (access link on Moodle) and start on the 16th of November.

Contents

The lecture discusses multimedia services which are realized through data networks (online). Knowledge about data networks is introduced as far as necessary for understanding the lecture, for details students are referred to other lectures on computer networks. The lecture is structured into the following areas:

• Basic technologies for interactive multimedia Web apps
• Server-side JavaScript, Node, Express
• Database integration for Web Apps, NoSQL-Datenbanken (MongoDB)
• Client-Side Web App Frameworks (Angular, React, Web Components)
• Social media and virtual online worlds
• Copyright protection and Digital Rights
• Media Streaming Technology
• Architectures and Signalling Protocols for Multimedia Communication

The lecture course is suitable for:

• Students of Media Informatics (Master) or Informatics (Master) being well grounded in topics of Media Informatics, or Human-Computer-interaction (Master)
• Students of Master MMT - compulsory course in the third term

Slack Zulip

Since winter term 20/21 OMM will use the Zulip chat instead of Slack. This a IfI-hosted solution and thus increases our data privacy. Uni2Work

We use Uni2Work to manage exercise sheets and the exam registration. Please make sure to enroll for the course in Uni2Work, otherwise you will not be able to participate in the exam!

Moodle

Slides & Podcast will be avaliable via Moodle. We further use Moodle to publish announcements, course-related surveys, tutorial slides etc. . The enrollment can be accessed via Uni2Work (check the exercise sheets). Please make sure to enroll in Moodle, otherwise you will neither have access to lecture materials nor receive important announcements.

Tutorials

Please install all tools listed in the Readme on GitHub before you attend the tutorials.

Klausur

There will be no written exam at the end of the lecture. The course will be graded based on a practical project to be completed, together with an oral final presentation/examination (online).
Students with instable or inconvenient Internet connection are asked to contact the organizers in advance to find an adequste solution for the exam.

Nachholklausur

There will be a makeup exam.
