Unhealthy Dependence on AI Coding Tools

master thesis

Status open
Advisor Dr. Thomas Weber

Task

Agentic coding tools in the terminal like Claude Code or OpenCode are rapidly gaining popularity. However, users report, whether serious or not, an unhealthy level of dependence on them. Overreliance on tools like this can have serious implications like deskilling or a deterioration of quality. In this thesis, you will experimentally explore how strongly users depend on tools like Claude Code or OpenCode and whether this dependence is measured or unhealthy.
