Task
AI-based methods allow to use a webcam to estimate the direction of the user's gaze (https://webgazer.cs.brown.edu/). However, the accuracy and precision of such eye tracker is not really good. The task of the thesis is to estimate the accuray of a webcam-based eye tracker as done in Figure 3 of "Toward Everyday Gaze Input: Accuracy and Precision of Eye Tracking and Implications for Design, CHI17, DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.1145/3025453.3025599". The thesis should also discuss what eye tracking applications are imaginable with the low accuracy.
Tasks
Tasks
- Find and study related literature.
- Become familiar with the eye tracking software.
- Design a user study to estimate the accuracy.
- Develop software for the user study (JavaScript, PHP).
- Conduct the user study (online or lab study).
- Do an statistical evaluation of the study.
- Discuss the results.
- Write all down in a thesis.
