Block-Einzelpraktikum: Evaluation of a Tangible User Interface That Explains Quantum Key Distribution

project thesis

Advisor Sarah Delgado Rodriguez
Professor Prof. Dr. Florian Alt

Task

Join a hands-on research project exploring how Tangible User Interfaces (TUIs) can help users better understand abstract cybersecurity topics like Quantum Key Distribution (QKD)! TUIs have shown promise in making complex topics more accessible — but can they help people grasp protocols like BB84? We've built a marble-track-based prototype to find out, and now it's time to evaluate it in a user study. This topic offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experiences with UX research, a highly demanded skill in- and outside of academia.

Your task: Design and conduct a laboratory study to empirically evaluate the TUI, and analyse the data collected during an intensive 6-week practical course (to start as soon as possible).

Keywords

usable security, quantum key distribution, tangible user interfaces
