SSIML: Designing Structure and Application Integration of 3D Scenes
10th International Conference on 3D Web Technology (Web3D 2005), ISBN 1-59593-012-4, pp. 9 - 17, ACM Press, March 2005
The integration of 3D scenes into complex software systems can be a great challenge. The results of different developer groups working on a project with different tools have to be composed into a single software product. This is an expensive and error prone task because of the lack of specialized concepts and tools. A visual and tool supported modelling language called SSIML (Scene Structure and Integration Modelling Language) is introduced allowing to design 3D scene integration. Since SSIML is a UML extension it can be integrated in common UML tools. The SSIML models form a contract between the different developer groups. Based on the models main parts of the implementation code are generated automatically to ensure consistency.
