StringTouch - A Scalable Low-Cost Concept for Deformable Interfaces In Extended Abstracts of the 2019 CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI EA '19). Association for Computing Machinery, New York, NY, USA, Paper INT004, 1-4. DOI:https://doi.org/10.1145/3290607.3313245 (bib) |
This paper describes a demo prototype of a tangible user interface (TUI) concept that is derived from the expressive play of musical string instruments. We translated this interaction paradigm to an interactive demo which offers a novel gesture vocabulary (strumming, picking, etc.). In this work we present our interaction concepts, prototype description, technical details and insights on the rapid and low-cost manufacturing and design process. |
